Imperial Art Glass, Blue Lead Lustre Grecian Urn Vase Freehand Great Iridescence
The vessel is hand blown in that classic Grecian urn shape, probably the most popular shape in vases. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 5 7/8" tall and is 4 3/8" in diameter at the shoulder.

This vase displays some of the strongest mirror blue iridescence I have ever seen in an Imperial art glass Freehand piece. When I say mirror, I mean mirror, as you can see yourself in the iridescent finish. It is so strong, it almost looks metallic, yet it is fragile glass. The neck of the vessel displays a wonderful rich fuchsia with gold overtones iridescence finish.

I would say that this vase is more 3 color. The bottom 3/4 is a blue iridescence with the neck being gold and the edge above the gold is fuchsia.

This reminded me of how Durand Art Glass would use a gold foot with a blue body. This is just the opposite of that.

Those of you who know art glass know that many Quezal workers migrated to the Imperial Glass Company and the Durand Glass Company when Quezal closed its doors in 1924. This vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few minor scratches that is consistent with these pieces. The vase is unsigned but it does display a counter sunk polished pontil, the finishing sign of a quality piece of hand blown art glass.

This vase more than likely had a paper label that simply came off over time. This piece was from the "Freehand Lustre Line" of Art Glass in the Imperial Catalog.

In my research I read that Imperial also tried to lure Steuben Aurene and Tiffany Favrile Glass blowers into their shop with enticing employment offers. Some of these workers migrated as well. CLEMENTS ANTIQUES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STOREFRONT.
