Antique Blue Glass & Cameo Enamel Flower Design Vase Victorian c1880

A 19th century blue glass vase with enamel cameo painting. It is very well done and really does capture the cameo lock using built up layers of enamel. These items were produced in the later Victorian period to emulate the look of the much admired but hugely expensive Webb and Stevens & Williams. This example is in an sapphire blue colour with a satin finish exterior and normal gloss glass finish inside. The pontil scar to the base has been left rough snapped. These period enamel cameo vases make a fine display and are available in numerous colours, although they are not that commonly available today. Even so they are a fraction of the price of a Webb original. Some marks to the exterior, mostly from the process of satinising the surface. The enamel is generally good with no significant losses detected. There is a production flaw to the underside of the rim accented by the enamel (shown in close up).
