Antique Jennings Brothers Cobalt Blue Glass Vase / Jar - JB 2461 - 8-Inch Variation. This is an authentic antique cobalt blue glass and metal vessel manufactured by the Jennings Brothers (JB) of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Standing approximately 8 inches tall with a base diameter of 4 1/4 inches, this piece features a vivid, hand-blown cobalt blue glass insert housed within a highly detailed Neoclassical metal armature.
Total Height: Approximately 8 inches. Base: 4 1/4 inches in diameter with a finished flat circular base plate. Note on Configuration: While the JB 2461 model is frequently documented in a 9-inch version with a flared, decorative pedestal, this 8-inch example features a distinct flat-base profile. The patina on the bottom is consistent and aged, matching the rest of the framework perfectly.
Condition: The metal framework is intricately cast with fruit-and-vine pillars and draped swags. It displays a rich, uniform dark patina and tarnish consistent with its long history. There is one noted cosmetic defect: one of the four decorative hanging drops beneath the central medallions has broken off and is shorter than the others. The cobalt glass insert is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks detected. Please examine the photos closely to compare these specific dimensions and base style with other known examples of this model.
