Extremely Rare 1949 Kraka Art Glass Vase by Sven Palmqvist Nr. Please read the descriptions carefully, and reference all images for inspection and description verification. This very rare Palmqvist art glass vase is from my late parent's private collection that was bequeathed to me a few years ago. My parent's were passionate collectors for over 50 years, and collected art glass of various artists from around the world.
Our wish is to find new homes where my family's treasured objects will be appreciated, given a new life, and bring enjoyment to others. This rare Kraka vase is a highly collectible treasure. It is one of the earlier models from Sven Palmqvist's Kraka series. It is incised to its underside: Orrefors Sweden, Kraka Nr. Palmqvist began his Kraka line in 1944.
Com/dating-orrefors-kraka-glass website, Kraka models in 1949 were numbered 72 to 96. The vase appears to be clear with an amber hue. It is internally decorated with a deep blue fishnet pattern. According to the book, Scandinavian Ceramics And Glass 1940s to 1980s, the name, Kraka, is derived from a Nordic legend about a woman who was draped by a fish net.The measurements of the vase are stated below. Please note: I have a color vision deficiency condition, so please reference the pictures for personal determination. I do my best (with husband's input) to identify and capture the color as close as possible in the images. Though, please keep in mind that display monitors can vary greatly. No original box was found for this vase.
Measurements and weights will be close, but may not be exact. Vase Height: 5.5 inches. Scandinavian Ceramics And Glass 1940s to 1980s, George Fischler & Barrett Gould, pg 136 briefly describes Kraka history, process, and legend of the name. All items are in the condition in which they were found. This item was used for display purposes only, and treated with care during the time it was in our family.Please keep in mind that handmade artwork may have flaws that occurred during its creation. Also, vintage items are normally used, and may show signs of wear that is consistent with its age and use.

This item appears to be in excellent vintage condition. There is a very small and somewhat noticeable bubble located near the widest area of the vase that can be felt, which apparently occurred during its creation. Some fine scratches around the wide section that to our eyes are barely noticeable. In addition, there are typical scratches underneath its base. Any scratch wear is consistent with age and use.
Overall this vase looks to be in very nice shape for its nearly 75 years of existence. We feel pictures often speak louder than words.
