Rare & Early 16.25 CHARLES LOTTON Lava Art Glass Vase c. Rare & Early 16.25 CHARLES LOTTON Lava Art Glass Vase , circa 1975. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Rare John Lotton Lava chalice vase, a unique shape in blue black with silvery foliage on vines that spiral the stem and over a paperweight foot encased in cranberry glass. The freeform lava is thickly applied and neatly coils around the stem. Measures 16 1/4 inches and 7 inches across.

The consignor watched in awe as John created this masterpiece, only to have a few problems arise in the making. John considered destroying the vessel but the consignor interceded. John then gave the vase to the consignor without a signature. Maladies are the lava spiral which has 4 inch and 1 inch areas on one winding thread that was reattached back into place with clear glass at the time of manufacture. Handsome none-the-less, and the repair is on the back side of the vase.
