Because of its shape , the vase is wider at the top (9") than it is tall (8"). The weight is just over 4 Lbs. "Orléans" is photographed and described (photo 9) in Felix Marcilhac's large book (the unofficial Lalique "Bible"), on page 448 of the 2010 French printing under reference 1046 but the book has a publishing error: While "Orléans" is the vase on the RIGHT of photo 9, the correct text is under the photo on the LEFT.Photos and captions have been inverted The correct caption (on the left) clarifies that it was made only until 1932 (it was removed from the October 1932 catalogue) and never re-introduced later. The signature R LALIQUE (photo 8) is stenciled under the base in block letters. The condition is not perfect: There are, from origin, a few bubbles inside the glass. There is no chip or break but the top rim has been repaired and its width therefore varies (photos 5 and 6) There is no loss of height. The price has been considerably reduced to make up for these defects and the presentation, when displayed, remains excellent.
Here is therefore a good opportunity to acquire a fairly rare vase for an affordable price. The item "Rene Lalique 1930 Frosted Orleans Vase with Green-Blue Patina. Repaired Rim" is in sale since Wednesday, August 4, 2021. This item is in the category "Pottery & Glass\Glass\Art Glass\French\Lalique".
